What’s the difference between Semi-Custom and Custom Cabinets?

Semi-Custom cabinets have set perimeters that restrict the client. Generally, the widths of the cabinet are set and increase in 3″ increments. The choice of materials and finishes will be limited as well. Cabinet “Boxes” are joined together to complete a run of cabinets and “fillers” must be used to make up for any differences.

Custom cabinets are only limited by your imagination. Cabinet widths can be whatever is needed to fill a space thereby eliminating the use of “fillers” and joining many cabinets together. Generally, a wider selection of materials and finishes are available to complete the exact look you are going for.

Why should I buy custom made when I can get it cheaper online?

In short — you are supporting a small business that pledges to support other small businesses. I get many of my raw materials and supplies from local family-owned wood mills and stores.

There is no comparison in quality when comparing something custom made versus mass produced. My pieces are built from solid wood to last several lifetimes whereas most furniture built in a factory setting is built the quickest way possible utilizing materials made to look like “real” wood using inferior cost saving construction techniques.

Much of what is available online has size limitations. While you may have a few choices to select from you are still having to “make do” with what they have available. I can create the piece to fit your exact requirements with whatever amenities you desire.

What if I’m not local to you, can I still order furniture?

YES! While much of my work is in the New Hampshire/ Maine seacoast area I have shipped pieces throughout the United States. I will personally deliver a piece when it is feasible. If not, and I can safely box/crate your order it will be delivered using FedEx or UPS. For larger pieces I use a “White Glove Delivery” service which means your furniture will be blanket wrapped, carried into your home, placed where you want it, and all packaging material is removed for your convenience. The delivery method and any charges will be discussed and agreed upon at the time your order is placed.
